The beauty of Florida has stolen my heart. For years I have felt such peace in the woods. It is my haven, the place I connect back with all that is important in my life. I breathe differently in the presence of towering pine trees and I feel the stress, whatever it may be, melt away.
After nearly twenty years away it was amazing to find the source of that peace. I never made the connection before now.
As a little girl in the hot summer sun, my Aunt Sheila would take us for a walk in the woods. We would travel down the wooden pathway to the little stream along the trails that were nesteled next to her lake home. As a girl scout, I spent many nights singing by the campfire underneath the canopy of these same trees that I now walk under once again.
As I moved around the world I was always quick to find the nearest trail, to hike with the family as often as we could and every single time I felt the same way.
It is funny though, the woods around the world that kept me connected to my childhood are now cherished as I am back home, walking the trails from long ago. It has come full circle for me. I have a new level of love for the trails now that I am older. I see them differently. For now I see how the light falls, how the texture of brush grows, the layers of trees…. I now see them with a photographers eye.
How lucky am I to get to capture the beauty of my clients mixed with the beauty of Florida…last night was no exception. This gorgeous couple is about to meet their new little boy in just a few weeks. I was lucky enough to get to capture their love.
We headed out to one of my favorite trails….they were amazing to work with! Here is a sneak peek for you.
There are so, so many more. These I just happened to see as I was downloading their files. I cannot wait to get to work on the rest…
Until (very) Soon,
