I am surprised sometimes when I get the email that asks about sessions with older kids. It always hits me the same, I do work with many families with small children. But that doesn’t mean that I do not LOVE working with families with older kids too. In fact, I love to.

Especially this one.

The kids had such a special connection it wasn’t hard to get them to show it to me. They had the best giggles, I know you will agree.

it makes for the perfect session. I feel so blessed to have been asked to capture their love.

This school year I followed my heart. I couldn’t find the right school so I created one. I wrote a special social emotional curriculum and converted our garge into a full-on preschool. It has been an amazing journey with you. I was able to be there with you each step of the way. Helping you when you felt nervous, encouraging  you to push and grow, and giving you the words when you couldn’t find them.

You reached goals faster than we all expected. Growing faster in skills than your age. It was the perfect stepping stone between being at home with me and moving on to preschool.

It is exciting for me to say that you have outgrown our program. You are ready for a classroom without me by your side and to soar all on your own.

Before you go, I must say how thankful I am to have been able to watch these little moments with you. To see you laugh when your friends made you giggle, to watch as you learned to share and find the words when you needed them most.

But it is time. Time for you to grow on…

The friends that joined us were so compassionate and patient. They were happy to play along and learn and sing with us.

I will say this has been my most rewarding teaching experience. Who would have known all those years in college and in the classroom were all just training for when I met you. It is all part of the perfect plan. I love being able to witness it all coming together.

Cross country season is long gone but the benefits, they still remain. You learned so much during that season. I watched as you learned to push yourself, to not give up and to go farther than you thought you could. It will always be something I remember. It was a big time for you and for who you are growing to be.

Track season starts today and our conversations have been full of which events you want to compete in and which ones you want to avoid and why. You are leaning towards the 200 and the 400. You are curious about the 100 but not sure about getting that fast start. It will be fun to see where you find yourself most at home.

I love watching you grow…it fills my heart.

These two were my very first subjects as a little girl. It is so surreal to still be able to capture their connection all these years later and with all that I know now.

It was the last day of their visit when the snow started to fall. We had so much snow this year that it had lost its magic for me. Until I got to experience the snow through my Mom’s eyes. She had never played in so much fresh snow. Seeing it through her excitement made it feel new for me too.

So thankful for these two. Thankful for our time together and the perspectives we can share.

I love it when you are here, you always find a little project to help with. These days there are many little projects around the house that are getting overlooked during our busy day-to-day life, so knowing one of those gets checked off is the best gift. Thanks for being you!
